One Battle You Can Never Win (Part 2) | Global Life Service (29th September 2024)
Topic: Global Life Service
This inspiring message delves into one of the greatest struggles a person can face: fighting against God’s divine plan. Drawing from Isaiah 45:9, the sermon challenges us to reflect on the futility of arguing with our Creator. Just as clay cannot contend with its potter, we are reminded that fighting against God is a battle we can never win.
Building on last week’s teaching, the message explores how man can fight other men and even improve himself through personal discipline. Man can resist and defeat the devil as well, as the Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” However, when we attempt to fight against God’s plan—whether for ourselves or for others—we are walking on dangerous ground.
Key Points:
- Fighting God’s Plan for Yourself (Disobedience):
When your plans conflict with God’s will for your life, you are fighting against Him. Instead of resisting, we are called to submit and align with God’s purpose. - Fighting God’s Plan for Others (Overprotection):
In trying to protect our loved ones, we may unintentionally interfere with God’s plan for their lives. Sometimes, our care can become control, and instead of helping, we end up harming their divine destiny. - Fighting God by Resenting Others’ Success (Jealousy):
Why should the success of those around us cause discomfort? Like Joseph’s brothers who resented his God-given dreams, we can find ourselves fighting against God’s blessing on others. We must recognize that when God elevates someone, it is part of His eternal plan, which spans generations.
Lessons from Joseph and Jonah:
- Joseph’s Journey teaches us that God’s selection is beyond our control. His dreams were not his own, but God’s plan to fulfill His purposes.
- Jonah’s Anger at Nineveh’s salvation shows us that opposing God’s desire to save others is fighting against His mercy and grace.
A Call to Align with God’s Will:
As believers, we must embrace God’s plan, not just for our lives but for those around us. To become friends of God, we must:
- Obey His Commandments (John 14:15, 21).
- Partner with His Plan for both our lives and others (Genesis 18:17-33).
- Deepen Our Prayer Life, making it a line of communication to align with His will.
Not everything that appears good is God’s will. Often, He orchestrates events in ways we do not fully understand. Instead of opposing or resenting God’s work in others, we are called to intercede for them, recognizing that what God does in their lives, He is also doing in ours.
Prayer:
“Father, have mercy on me. Open my eyes to Your plan for my life and give me the grace to submit to it. Help me not to delay, for the more I resist, the more dangerous it becomes for me and my generation. Make me a revelation to my generation according to Your will. Amen.”
